modulesthissemester.

2007-10-23 - 1:12 p.m.

all my modules this sem have the potential to be interesting, and even fun. plus there're only 4! :p

-broadcast journalism
-advanced tv production
-scriptwriting
-media law

in scriptwriting lect just now (which an angst-ridden mr teh jin yu arrived for after racking up an impressive cab fare receipt of $33.60, rofl), our lecturer went "watch more movies to get inspiration. if your parents complain, tell them its for educational purposes". kweehoon said the same thing when we took film theory&criticism last sem. (:

and my timetable actually isn't all that bad, but for the fact that on most of my early days, there's training 4-5 hours later. gah bummer.

below is a cartoon that i found online - one that i think would describe dumbledore's reaction to his creator jk rowling's public statement that he's gay.

what say you?

and while we are on that subject, i would have liked to ask you to join me in signing the repeal 377a petition, but i think the deadline's over.

ohwells. hmm.

school starts tomorrow, or later if you want to be anal. in the timetable, media law was slated to commence in wk 33, but now apparently not. sian x n. and the fact that its all the way in the engineering school, that's sian x n x n.

iheartiaian

2007-10-16 - 2:43 a.m.

i'm in love.
with iaian.

DSC01744

isn't he <3?

and in case you were wondering,
no, it isn't a typo.
his name is spelt that way.

he's ivory's 2.5 year-old son, and looks korean/japanese, even though he's 100% singaporean. he's not too photogenic though - he looks way cuter in person.

met him for for the first time at iylia's "hari raya" party on sat night. when ivory first carried him in, iaian looked set to ignore everyone with a mutinous pout that threatened to give way to a full-throated bawl everytime someone came near to marvel at how cute he was.

but he soon warmed up, to me at least. its not as easy as it seems, he's really quite the daokia. even his mom was exclaiming over how he actually was willing to take a proper photo with me.
i should be honoured i think. (:

ivory and her partner were nice enough to give me a lift home. in the back seat next to iaian in his baby carseat, i was looking out of the window just stoning, when a little hand tugged at my sleeve. when i turned to smile at him, he grinned up at me and reached over to pull my hand into the snug cocoon of his seat.

and he just held tightly onto my thumb for the remaining 25 minutes of the journey.

DSC01764

it was damn heartwarming.
it would have been a perfect moment if his maid (who was sitting on the other side of him) was not glaring at me with such undisguised astonishment.

family meal for 6 @ kenny rogers. fer the record, there were only 4 of us, but still we managed to finish every scrap (except one chicken wing, and that's peishan's fault! :p). for posterity's sake, that was officially 9 side dishes + a platter of ribs + 8 chicken wings + 1 entire chicken + 6 muffins + 6 drinks). dinner was followed by a cup of yami yoghurt each. shiok only!

(no)thankstoreservoirtraining.

2007-10-08 - 2:49 a.m.

glowing red forearms (there is a damn distinct line right at each of my elbows that separate red from brown) and a burnt face. (no) thanks to reservoir training the saturday past.

it bloody hurts la. been spamming aloevera in a last ditch effort to prevent peeling.

application time again. ): and this is the sole factor that has put paid to my plans to suntan tmr. if i still went ahead, i think i would be siao.

but back on track, training at the reservoir was okay i guess. fishy-smelling water aside, i thought it wasn't half as tiring as normal pool training.

in fact, it was even fun. training + impromptu picnics in the middle of the reservoir with water, 100plus, biscuits and apples is something i think we'll miss when we get all our pool slots back.

but still, i hope the pool renovation will end as scheduled. 'cos if all goes as planned, following this timeout from the pool, we'll have our original slots back - this time all in the competition pool. though this arrangement will last only a month, it's as good an opportunity as any for the team.

/keeps fingers crossed.

i was expecting a cut in our pool slots, but we got to keep all! a main reason is 'cos no one wants to take in canoepolo 'cos they think we're too violent and may damage their property. and honestly, i think all the properly-done admin work and liaising with sk played a part as well. hur.

but i really feel damn bad for the other ccas, who all have to make allowances for us by giving up their pool slots for us during that month. sorry! :(

2007-09-29 - 1:13 a.m.

rating scale for student internship programme performance appraisal:
5 - far exceeds requirements/expectations
4 - exceeds requirements/expectations
3 - generally meets requirements/expectations
2 - occasionally meets requirements/expectations
1 - fails to meet requirements/expectations

i flipped opened my appraisal...to see an unbroken row of twelve consecutive "5"s.

score: 60/60.

not that i'm complaining.
i should be ecstatic,
but for one cloud on the horizon.

bestdayofsip

2007-09-27 - 2:52 p.m.

today has been the best day in my entire 6 months of internship. here, i should add the qualifier "so far, at least", in case murphy decides to be opportunistic. :D

1) was on half day leave this morning, hence i made full use of the rainy weather to sleep. shiok!

2) cabbed down fer lunch in town. i had the best cab driver, ever. there was a long line at every single traffic light we came across. instead of the normal "sit and wait" thing taxi drivers usually do while the meter jumps, this one kept going all the way to the front to cut queue. and i wasn't even in a hurry. i felt damn bad, and told him, "uncle, bu yong jing, wo ke yi deng (never mind, i can wait)", cos pple were honking at him non-stop. and his reply? "mei guan xi. bu yao guan ta men (its okay, just ignore them)". after having gotten me there in record time considering the jams, the taxi fare stood at $14.70. he then turned around, smiled at me and said "shi kuai qian jiu hao ($10 can already)". i spent two minutes arguing with him why i should pay the full fare, but he stood firm. walao eh, this kind of taxi driver extinct already pls. didn't quite catch his name, but he's slightly balding and drives a yellow top taxi.

3) lunch at tony romas in town was goodgoodgood. it was clayton's treat (farewell lunch for us + belated bday lunch for ivory).
the ribs were orgasmic.

4) "official" thankyou/farewell dinner for us later tonight with the marketing, sales & business development folks at oosh@dempsey.

now tell me, how do you beat that?? :p

housekeeping.

2007-09-26 - 5:05 p.m.

since internship is drawing to a close, and that that means that i will be spending (relatively) more time in my room, i decided to do a little housekeeping.

well, maybe "a little" is an understatement. i started this morning at 2am, and i'm still not done yet (its 5.04pm now btw). of course, those 15 hours included countless "stoning breaks" where i just sit and stare at the piles of stuff not knowing where to put them. oh, and the miserly 2 hours of sleep i managed to get while sitting on my beanbag after dashboard confessional's crooning got to me.

result: ive got three big bags full of trash waiting to be dumped down the chute, and my room's back to its l337 state. those who've been to my house recently may say "ur room was quite neat wad". guess what, you got trixxed, keke. didn't you wonder why everytime i opened a cupboard or drawers, i slam it shut immediately. even i couldn't stand it. but now, its all good. /big grin.

that is, once i decide what to do with the miscellaneous bits and pieces still lying around various parts of my room. oh, and i just found some new stickers for my darling. my paddle looks so decorated now. hur.

so much for me telling vanessa i intended to use my off day to catch up with my internship journals/reflections. bloody waste of time methinks.

but it still has to be done,
and damn, im writing in the wrong journal.

durianmooncakesandbruce

2007-09-25 - 8:06 a.m.

our first round of farewell/thankyou dinners last night. we had dinner with cynthia, wee, bruce and szeki, the latter who treated us at sanur@takashimaya.

dinner was followed by orgasmic cold durian mooncakes. it was damn good stuff, which the angmoh, as bruce so cheerfully terms himself, only reluctantly deigned to taste after his sharp german nose wrinkled up in distaste when the pungent smell wafted into it. but don't be mistaken, after working with him fer so many months, we all love this overgrown boy with his great sense of (mostly sardonic & pun-riddled) humour that is truly side-splittingly funny. he's a gentleman with such perfect manners that would put most men to shame. and /gasps he's even good-looking.

i always had this niggling thought that he should run for the american presidency. i am fairly certain that if nothing else, his inauguration speech will be a refreshing (and rofl-inducing) one. and his reasons for US troops in iraq would definitely not be politically correct spiel carefully cautioned by the public relations team.

american news would be so much more interesting.but i digress. he's not even american.

happy midautumn festival.

cpfreform&rogueassassin

2007-09-24 - 9:38 a.m.

my colleague's radio is blaring, and for the nth time, the dj is harping on the topic of why we should all give the nod to cpf reforms so that those who live beyond 85 can enjoy the benefits of the proposed annuities scheme.

well, the dj doesn't seem convinced herself.

in any case, how many 85 year olds do you know? are they active spunky grandmamas or frail fragile invalids? most of the time, the latter, no? if so then what would they use the cpf money for? to buy adult pampers?

that was a freakin illogical example. but still you should get my point. if you tried, but don't, its okay, just hang yourself.

that aside, i can't imagine living beyond 85. and i don't think i would want to. at least, i wouldn't want to have to watch the world go by without being able to kick and jump around in it.

you know, akin to the way jet li kicks people in rogue assassin, which i caught with fysh & ben sat night. wasn't really impressed by the show, though i thought the nifty spyker c8 spyder that jet li drove was damn chio. according to imdb.com, it costs an estimated $287,000. in case you were a noob and wondering, that figure's in usd, not sgd.

hawkerant

2007-09-24 - 8:01 a.m.

broke fast with fauzan, ashiq, laura, ana & hanis at mak's place: hawkerant last night.

ashiq made reservations the day before, and they asked him to pre-order. thank god he had the presence of mind to refuse. if we had pre-ordered, we would have arrived to a table full of stone cold food and diluted drinks, simply because the food had been unceremoniously placed there a good 40 minutes earlier. needless to say, the houseflies had their fill. /shudders

on the whole, dinner, followed by the walk through the geylang serai bazaar was...an enlightening affair, for want of a better description, cos no conversation can be dull with fauzan and ashiq around. you'll either be laughing along, rolling your eyes, or responding with a quip.

halfway through dinner, i had this random thought that mdm yew would be proud of her litkids, as she loved to call us.

untanglingcords..

2007-09-23 - 4:44 p.m.

happynationalday

2007-08-10 - 1:03 a.m.

i really liked the lyrics of one national day song this year:

i've walked the streets of cairo and bombay
i've seen the neon signs on ole broadway
i've climbed the eiffel tower
the great wall in one hour
experienced sweet and sour but that's okay

seen hollywood, the sunsets in la.
the london bridge, big ben, the thames, uk
i've crossed the river kwai
yet still i don't know why
i think of you each night and every day

struck a chord somewhere though ive never been to most of the places listed.

sweet. (:

cantwaitforeverythingtobeover

2007-08-05 - 2:13 a.m.

i don't think anyone really comprehends what i'm going through right now.

everyone sees what is on the surface.
backstage work is almost always taken for granted and unheard of. try reaching your office at 7am and leaving at 7 or 8 plus at night. reaching home dead exhausted and still a long list of stuff to be done. sometimes i just want to ignore everything, and just curl up in bed and sleep, but i can't. so i don't think you're in the best position to comment.

i would really love to see how you would be coping if you were in my shoes at the moment. would a little understanding be too much to ask?

i'm so very tired.
tired of taking care of everything and everyone except myself.

can't wait for everything to be over. two more months to the end of internship. growl.
but meanwhile, competition's well on the way. can't afford my skills not being up to the mark.

i can, and i will. (:

threeyearsinignorance

2007-07-18 - 2:22 p.m.

after leet dimsum buffet on sunday with ian, fysh, alvyn and ben, we were chilling out beside the singapore river: random chatting, enjoying the occasional comfortable silence and simply watching the world go by.

that was good.

but later that night, they disclosed a revelation that made me angst for 3 days, and counting. and it's still taking some time to sink it. their well-intentioned advice goes something along the lines of "its been three years, so no point being angry."

i don't quite know about that, but one thing's fer sure though. it's taking its toll on my ability to trust.

donaldnah.

2007-07-13 - 9:09 a.m.

just received news that donald nah from tp's bowling team has passed away. he had a malignant brain tumour. we were still in the process of canvassing contributions from all our teams to help his family cope with the huge medical fees. no one expected this sudden turn.

was on the phone with xiyun, who was donald's major project groupmate. she was crying so badly. i had called to comfort her, but i ended up quiet most of the time, 'cos all the "correct" things to say suddenly seemed so cliche and inappropriate. i was clutching onto the telephone receiver, feeling so helpless, inadequate, and small, shaken even. my eyes were wet with unshed tears and the only sounds were that of xiyun's sobbing.

please, may your prayers be with him and his family in this time.

awol.

2007-07-13 - 8:29 a.m.

after i read the article (below), my first thought was: why so insistent on airing this matter?
i mean, yea someone went awol, that's an offence. i don't mean to sound unpatriotic here. but hey, was there really the need to escalate it all the way to the defence minister? sometimes people want to give chance, so just relax one corner lah, brudder. why must paoto and force their hand sial. and lagi worse, he got the worst end of the deal, worth it meh? they say, "no pain, no gain". but what did he gain? ohwells.

and i do apologize if the liberal peppering of singlish (which i have italicized) in the para above has offended your sensitivities in one way or another, but sometimes there are just no other ways to express some sentiments, don't you think so? singlish ftw. but i digress.

before i continue, i do think it may be pertinent at this point of time to add that with this entry, i do exercise clause 14(1)(a) of singapore's constitution, which states, "every citizen of singapore has the right to freedom of speech and expression".
just to be safe. (:

anyways, article's below. take a look.

MINDEF takes PM Lee's son to task
for contravening orders

By S Ramesh/Gamar Abdul Aziz, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 12 July 2007 2348 hrs

SINGAPORE: The Defence Ministry has formally charged and reprimanded a full-time National Service officer after he contravened orders by broadcasting a letter of complaint to other servicemen. Second Lieutenant Li Hongyi, who is a son of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, had apparently sent an email to the Defence Minister to lodge a complaint against another serviceman. 2LT Li is believed to have copied the email to other servicemen who are not directly under his command and are not in an official capacity to deal with the matter. His action has been a subject of several on-line discussions here. MINDEF says there are proper channels within the SAF to address grievances or concerns. And in this incident, 2LT Li is said to have written a complaint against another officer whom he alleged had been absent without leave on two occasions. According to a statement by MINDEF, 2LT Li had also said in his letter that he had reported the matter to the officer's supervisors but disciplinary action had not been carried out. MINDEF adds that arising from 2LT Li's complaint, an investigation was conducted and appropriate disciplinary action has been meted out to the officers concerned. The officer who was found to have been absent without leave will be court-martialled. Two supervising officers have been issued warning letters for poor judgement in administering inappropriate disciplinary action. MINDEF says to maintain organisational discipline, all SAF servicemen with complaints or grievances should take them up through proper channels for redress. This is to ensure due process and to protect confidential information. All complaints which are not anonymous are investigated and dealt with properly. - CNA/ir

harrypotterandtheorderofthephoenix

2007-07-12 - 1:01 a.m.

nine of us went to watch
harry potter: order of the phoenix! (:

was good, but wasn't supersupersuper fantastic..maybe 'cos two hours was simply not long enough. too many parts were glossed across, and certain characters were given undue overexposure. like dolores umbridge and her sickening laugh. felt, and still do feel like crucio-ing her. someone give me a wand, quick. but i felt the acting across the board was not too bad, which does say a lot i suppose.

and for posterity's sake. this movie cost me 18 bucks. 8 bucks fer the ticket, and ten buckaroos fer the cab fare - from yiochukang to bishan. 2 freakin mrt stops away = 10 bucks cab fare?? wtf. i think the uncle conned me. and the only reason why i had to take a cab down was 'cos the movie was at 730. and i was still finishing up work in the office at 730. pfffft.

which also meant i missed the first few minutes of the movie (after all, the spiel of advertisements took some time). but a few minutes in a 2-hour movie can seem like a lifetime!

one day last week, i was curled up in my chair talking to vanessa who was perched higher up on my table extension, when the colleague who sits beside me suddenly grinned across at us.

"you girls look like a pair of gnomes, you all curled up tiny and she sitting there swinging her legs," he said in his cute scottish accent.

startled into silence, we both paused a moment, then burst out laughing.

but then again, how quaint.

something very painful happened during training yesterday, which has resulted in me walking like a bow-legged chicken since last night. literally painful. and potentially embarrassing if publicly announced. and please..just don't get me started on it, or i'll be ranting non-stop. growl.

but then training had a much better start..

i left the office at around 6.30 last night, and siuchung, who after realising that my workplace was in amk/yck while chatting on msn, offered to stay back later in his office (he could leave at around 5.30), then make a detour from yishun camp to pick me up, lah!

canoepolo seniors are the bestest, ever. (:

andandand the day just got better. iylia just came over to my desk to pass me a paperbag containing hohsei yakun kaya toast. thanks bro!

randwomworkpost

2007-06-27 - 9:25 a.m.

my first mc on monday since SIP started. amazing. been sick before but somehow managed to drag myself to work. but monday was the pits. high fever + sore throat = suckerrr.

better by tuesday but the whole backlog of work to clear made me feel immediately ill again. thank god we're not in the middle of some campaign, else the 57 unread emails i had when my outlook express started on tuesday morning would probably have been something like "107" or something. but then, i digress.

and i realised something. even though i come to the office every morning in neatly ironed office attire, by an hour or two later, my skirts/pants looked as if they've been newly scrounged out of the wash. that's because i sit crossed legged on my chair. hahas! but. i don't give a damn.

i need more excitement at work.
dang.
i dont want a desk-bound job in future. :x

beefcheeseburger.

2007-06-19 - 1:11 p.m.

the occasional lunch at the inhouse caferia is bearable. shiok even. ute note. keyword here is "occasional".

the beef with cheese burger is loves. melted cheese oozing out. the beef patty alone is at least an inch thick. and the diameter of the burger is wayy larger than that of a cdrom.

one word: orgasmic
/moan.
hahas!

my lunch today = humongous beef burger + salad + fruitpunch.

the salad here is really good. basically from the salad bar, you choose whatever you want and take whatever you can squeeze into your box. the salad bar boasts quite a generous range which actually boats quite a tempting range. there's cold pasta, chick peas, peeled half boiled eggs, tomatoes, sausages, lettuce, mushrooms, cucumbers, cold potato cubes, watermelon cubes etcetcetc. but then again, i'm not really a big fan of salad.

hur.

andand. random thought of the day. yesterday rather. one of the freshies was talking to me yesterday after training. "eh..ask you something. are you..straight or crooked".

*chuckles.

whyjdoesntliketotakebaths.

2007-06-13 - 8:44 a.m.

an optimist laughs to forget.
a pessimist forgets to laugh.

the below will make an optimist stop laughing and a pessimist chuckle.

j and i were debating the merits of a bath as opposed to a shower. i love baths. although i don't have a bathtub. j has a bathtub at home but doesn't like baths. we had this convo yst:

g says: huh whyyy?
j says: er. you know when you put a stick in water and somehow it looks bent and smaller?
g says: erp. ogay point taken. no need to continue. really.
j says: no let me finish explaining. yea that's why i never like to take baths. cos when something so huge suddenly seems to be so small, it's quite depressing.
g says: ..............[speechless]

jobrecommendation

2007-06-11 - 1:45 p.m.

i have the perfect job recommendation for those who are looking fer a profession that heightens your sense of importance / gives you sadistic satisfaction from cheap thrills.

read on..

simply be a..traffic warden! hahas. i have no idea whether that is the proper job title for those carpark attendants. but yea you do get the picture..i hope.

we were lunching at sembawang hill food centre just now. happily tucking in when we noticed a flurry of activity in the carpark. what happened was the carpark attendant was merely standing there at the entrance of the carpark, when all those cheapos who didn't put the parking coupon just to save on 50cents spotted him, and started running towards their cars. i counted at least 6 running uncles.

and the parking attendant waited till the flurry had died down, and took a slow stroll around the cars, not even looking down at the windscreens, an amused and smug smile on his face.

cheap thrill to the max.

sickcyclecarousel

2007-06-10 - 3:56 a.m.

i have just officially reinforced the fact that my cycling skills absolutely cmi.

hahas!

if someone were shooting at me, i swear i would escape unscathed - cos i'm sure the bullets would be unable to follow my erratic path. i really wonder how i managed to survive the amazing race on bikes during the urban challenge.

and it surely doesn't help that the current song playing is "sick cycle carousel". i think merely watching me cycle is enough to make anyone watching sick.

but still.
i believe we can all do it together.
as a team.

shimin is right;

if we really want that title, we gotta fight for it. and we know we can.

girls..unleash that potential.

differencebetweengutsandballs

2007-05-25 - 11:31 a.m.

(i loved this joke!)
the difference between "guts" and "balls"..
a definition:

we've all heard about people having guts or balls. there’s always been some confusion on the respective definitions. but do you really know the difference between them?

guts is arriving home late after a night out with the guys, being met by your wife with a broom, and having the guts to ask: "are you still cleaning, or are you flying somewhere?"
balls is coming home late after a night out with the guys, smelling of perfume and beer, lipstick on your collar, slapping your wife on the butt and having the balls to say: "you're next."

medically speaking, there is no difference in the outcome since both ultimately result in death.

disclaimer: kindly contributed by xiaoming whom i think is eager to test the definitions and their scenarios out. ;)

srrr 2007

2007-05-20 - 12:59 a.m.

srrr 2007's over.
tp1 ladies came in 2nd.
this is after winning NP Monsters 7-3, but losing to Ocube (National Team) 0-4
darn proud of them.

for the match vs the Nat team,
the 1st half was good. our seniors held the nat team to a goalless 1st half. some slipups in the 2nd half though which cost the game mainly through fast breaks.

results aside, as with many previous matches, i believe we've once again been accused by some people as being "cocky" and "committing dirty fouls" - among other things. it is my understanding that the viewpoints of these individuals are also shared by members of their same team.

from my point of view as captain, i honestly do not think any of the girls from tp displayed behavior that can actually be classified as "cocky". we also definitely did not go out of our way to commit dirty fouls. some fouls in the course of the game are inevitable. this can be seen in any canoepolo match. similary, many of our TP supporters felt that their team committed many fouls that were not called, but we were considerate enough not to comment on this "publicly" out of the competition arena. if these fouls are exaggerated out of proportion due to misinterpretation, at least some effort can be made to clarify matters instead of the endless insinuations made. i would like to apologise on behalf of all tp teams for any fouls made, but at the same time i can also make the assurance that none of the fouls were made on purpose - contrary to what the naysayers believe.

do't scoff at this point. i'm not here to shield my teammates from anything, but to defend them from an objective stand. i only ask that you look at the overall picture with an open mind - if you were in that position whereby you accidentally committed a foul that the opponent insisted was done on purpose, how would you feel? its only your interpretation of events - not the factual account of what happened.

and fer the record, i should like to state that for this competition, some of us have really gone out of our way to show sportsmanship, cheering them on and helping them to move their equipment, like just now. but apparently the unhappiness from previous batches has spilled over to them as well, and they are unable to differentiate between individual players and the institution as a whole. disparaging remarks (some even without basis) which can be considered insults even are made without the batting of an eyelid. don't miscontrue every action done to make it appear like we're deliberately setting ourselves against you - when we're not. irresponsible comments made by one person can really go a long way in destroying any potential inter-team friendships.

when can everyone realise that unhappiness in the pool should be left in the pool? true, players represent their institutions, but it is extremely unfair to generalise with sweeping statements that defame the institution as a whole. this leads to the vicious cycle of "you give me attitude, i give you attitude back". when will this end? both teams are at fault here.

we're all here for the love of the game. i have no wish to bring over conflicts from past generations into the picture. we've tried to live and let live. have you even tried? or are you adding oil to an inferno that you single-handedly built up from a mere spark?

i'm honestly not trying to blame anyone here. just hoping to bring things out into the open so as to put a halt to all the under-the-table exchanges that could possibly have led to this spate of misunderstandings.

we wanna play the canoepolo game, not play mind games like this. its tiring, needless, unconstructive, entirely unproductive, and not to mention that it never fails to get on the nerves of everyone involved.

fckit

2007-05-11 - 9:14 p.m.

another long day. wake up at 5am, spend 7.30am - 8pm in the office. internship machiam fulltime job. wth.

as if that aint bad enough, certain assholes are trying their best to piss me off - and they've succeeded.

fckit. fcku.

-

2007-05-10 - 11:18 p.m.

i've never felt so close to giving up before.

been doing too much for too long...and for what?
gave up so many things...to what end?
am i still here because of my responsibility or because i want to?

those are questions i have no answer to at the moment. the lightheartedness i once experienced during such times seems to have dissipated.

maybe its really time to let go.

firstweekofsip

2007-04-22 - 4:15 p.m.

the first week of sip did everything but fly past. i think lunch hour is the part of the day that i look forward most to everyday.

was sick since the second day. and i think the whole office knows it. everywhere i walk, people ask me "so are you feeling better today"? not a good start i guess.

but colleagues are rather friendly. and my supervisor's really nice. which is a major plus point. and iylia and vanessa have been real cool. though i accidentally slammed iylia's car door on vanessa's finger on thursday, and am honestly still sorry and guilty about it. :x

thank god srrr has been postponed by a week, else i don't know how i'm going to play. hope to be back training soon. -crosses fingers-

honestly, im not in the mood to write now. after writing nonstop case studies in the office for the past weeks, the last thing i want to do is write again.

but yea. i guess the purpose of this post is the mandatory i-am-still-alive-after-my-first-week-of-work declaration.

okay that's that for now. i have to figure out how to fill in the first week of my SIP log book, cos it's still spanking new, except where i wrote my name on the cover page.

i'm so not looking forward to waking up at 530am when work starts tmr. starting from when i wake up till i leave the office, that's probably around 13 hours. sigh okay bye.

creepycrawlies

2007-04-13 - 4:53 p.m.

hahas. my second post in all about 5 minutes. just remembered sth i intended to write about, but conveniently forgot because i couldn't see nuts on my blog. growleths.

when bathing at the last friendly with sp and nat team at sp, i was lathering up with soap when i felt sth on my right leg just below my knee. thinking it was just a stray hair, i swiped it off. and a super long centipede fell in front of me.

like seriously wtf. thank god for soap. else i don't think it would have fallen off that easily. having a centipede slithering all over me is fer sure not a fetish i would care to have.

and the damn thing moved super fast. yea and i had to continue bathing with that idiot creature in the same cubicle slithering around while i splashed water at it to make it stay far away. the whole scene resembled some bizarre catch-me-if-you-can dance. super scary.

first a toad, then a centipede. what next? gosh. someone up there's playing me big time. :x

sltc2007

2007-04-13 - 4:34 p.m.

back from sltc 2007. been a long time since i last went to camp. 4 hours sleep in 2 days. and that was right after training. ohwells.

this year's sltc was a lil' different from last year's, in the sense that instead of us facilitators running the camp, the various sports leaders had to do it. in essence, we did more of the background stuff, and were there to oversee the camp more than anything else. tho shared some fun and lots of laughter with the other facilitators. (: and this training camp was really more like a welfare camp. ben and jerry's ice cream, pizza, twisties, chicky chop. hahas!

butbutbutbut.
SIP starts this monday. ):

sigh. and. my blog is still a blank page. i've been told that some pple can see it, while others can't. any computer gurus know why? please help! :x

blanks.

2007-03-22 - 3:57 a.m.

is my diary a blank page or is it just me?

growl.

whiteliesandbarefacedtruths.

2007-03-18 - 11:25 p.m.

white lies and barefaced truths. aren't those what all of us have to face at points in our lives?

yea well, but there's such a thing as overloading. you think you're doing a good job of keeping it under wraps, but you are so wrong. i wouldn't want to expose you, but if you force me to make a choice, i will.

ahugetoadinmyboat.

2007-03-13 - 4:07 a.m.

there was a huge toad in my canoe that day.

and thinking it was the footrest, i happily kept pushing at it with my foot. my mind was somewhere else, but at the back of my head, there was this niggling thought that something was not right. after all, how could the footrest possibly be so slimy? but nothing else seemed out of place, the thing i was kicking at didn't move at all. so it was a good 30 seconds later before i acted on that something-is-wrong instinct.

still preoccupied, i pulled out my spray deck, and poked my head into the cockpit..
and saw two beady eyes staring calmly back at me.

i did the only conceivable thing at the time. i muttered a not-so-polite word, and then literally and clumsily jumped out of my canoe. although to my credit, i didn't scream.

alison peered into my boat, and squealed "walao. its damn big la!" then eunice did something, and the toad hopped casually out, as if it hadn't just been nearly squashed by my foot.

it was pretty obvious at that moment that i was the one who had come off at the worse end of the encounter.

when andy heard about it, he actually asked. "why didn't you kiss it? could have turned into your prince charming".

rrrrrrright.

wooohoo. im high. cant you tell? on mixedberry yoghurt with choya. its sweet. but the alcohol is doing weird things to the yoghurt. looks damn ewkk. but close your eyes and drink and its heavenly. hahas.

sometimes the day begins with nothing to look forward to. and things go from bad to worse. darkness overcomes you. nobody understands. the world is a deaf machine. without sense or reason. sometimes you wait and wait and wait and wait, but nothing ever happens. then all your troubles come at once. wonderful things are passing you by. terrible fates are inevitable. sometimes you just don't know what you are supposed to do. or who you are meant to be. or where you are. and the day seems to end the way it began. but suddenly, there it is. right in front of you. bright and vivid. quietly waiting. just the way you imagined it would be.
